Boondockers Welcome-Ontario, NY 10/25-28/2021

We heard about Boon-dockers Welcome while watching lots and lots of YouTube videos made by full timers.  I really liked the idea of "crashing" at places where we could meet people who are experienced RVers and have lots of experience and wisdom to share!  The membership costs $50/year, and there is typically no cost to stay unless the owner request a minimal amount to help cover hook ups you use.  The number of available places is amazing and finding and requesting a stay is supper easy.  Some hosts allow 1 day and others up to 5.

Our first experience at a Boon-dockers site was wonderful.  Our hosts were gracious, sweet and very helpful, especially Gene who helped me back the trailer up his 60' driveway!  We explored a little bit around the area including a nice community park/trail to walk.  (Our main purpose in staying in the area was to visit family.)

Interesting side note regarding Boon-dockers welcome.  They review you as a guest ;).  You can review their spot too, but its a little funny to have the host reviewing your stay at their spot.  It was nice to get a rent free spot to stay a few days, especially with the nice 30 amp hookup and water but.... the desire our our hosts to visit was potentially tiring.  Gene and wife are lovely people, don't get me wrong, its just the expectation to visit with the hosts seems a little weird to me.  Maybe that was just this host?  We shall see.  When you're full timing, these free spots are hard to resist.

A couple pics of the site.

Look at this driveway my wife backed our 5th wheel down...

Our rig and truck parked along their nice garage in there nice newly paved asphalt driveway.
